Suggestions for Prayers 

Pray for children and young people on holiday: those at youth camps and those remaining and all on family holidays. For those waiting expectantly for exam results and those who are not so confident. For the teaching, catering and administrative staffs that they may return renewed and refreshed. For all involved in the tourist industry and that extra care and courtesy may be shown on the roads. We should remember too those who, for whatever reason, are unable to enjoy a holiday.

Pray for People in the Nidd Approach area of Wetherby: Nidd Approach, Rye Garth, Ouse Drive, Swale Drive, Don Avenue, Derwent Drive, Calder Close, Ure Grove.

This week Churches in Wetherby pray for: Christians worldwide being persecuted.

 

Morning Prayerat St James’ Church– There will be no Morning Prayer during the summer holidays. The Morning Prayer will finish on Thursday 26 July and recommence on Monday 3 September. Stroma

 

Today is the Annual Linton Croquet Partyon Sunday 22 July 1pm-5pm. You are invited to join us and members of the Wetherby Arts Festival for an afternoon of croquet to be held in a field off Trip Lane, Linton. Love Lunch – join us in the Coffee Lounge to share food and enjoy fellowship onMonday 23 July, anytime between 12 noon and 2pm (last orders 1.30pm), where you will receive a warm welcome.  Please note there will be no Love Lunch in August. Youth Summer Drop-in on Wednesday 25 July 10.00am to 12 noonin the Church Centre/Tetley Land. This is open to all those who will be in Year 7, or above, in September. August Coffee Mornings at 9.30am in the Church Centre– Thursday 2 August in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, Thursdays 9, 16, 23, 30 August in aid of Tearfund Nepal.

 

Step-up – Step-up is a year-long process of learning about the Christian faith and practical discipleship. Step-up gives people an opportunity to learn, explore and ask questions about the Christian faith and the space to discern God’s call and purpose for their lives. Here in Wetherby, the course begins on Wednesday 12 September at 7.30pm. Leaflets with further details are available at the back of Church, or please contact Val Lumsden 01937 584760

 

Women’s Retreat Day on Saturday 29 September in the Church Centre. All are welcome to join us from 10.30am to 3.30pm for an exciting day of refreshment and new vision and hope. Put the date in your diary! Thank you. Stroma

 

Good news– Many of you will remember Douwe Dijkistra from Tearfund, who came to our 11am Service recently to talk about his work with Tearfund in Nepal. We prayed with him for his next steps and I am delighted to say he has been appointed the new Lead for Tearfund for East and Central Africa. He leaves on 10 August, so please continue to pray for him and his family. Thank you. Stroma
