There’s a Welcome Here – here at St James’ Church there is a welcome, not just on Sundays, but also during the summer months on most week days, when the Church is open for a few hours. When open, a “Welcomer” will be on duty to assist visitors. We will be open from April through to early November.
Book Club – The May meeting is on Tuesday 2 May at 7:30 pm in the curate’s office. The book is The Constant Gardener by John le Carre. All are welcome. Contact David and Sandra York (579596)
Love Lunch – Monday’s fortnightly Love Lunch pop in café (waitress service) brings people together to share food and enjoy fellowship. Join us in the Coffee Lounge anytime between 12 noon and 2 pm, last orders 1.30pm, where you will receive a warm welcome and be looked after by our team of friendly volunteers. Next dates 8th, 15th and 22nd May.
Annual Parish Meetings – The Annual Meeting of Parishioners, for the election of Churchwardens, and the APCM will both be held on Thursday 27 April at 7.30pm in the Town Hall. Drinks and nibbles will be served from 7pm.
Le Tour de Yorkshire – The cycle race comes through Wetherby on Saturday 29 April. The ‘Events Team’ are organising bacon rolls, tea and coffee, to be served to spectators in the church yard, from 9am until approx. 12.30pm.
Bishop James – Sunday 30 April at 3.30pm – Bishop James retires as Bishop of Ripon at the end of the month. To mark his ministry in the diocese we are invited to a Festal Eucharist in Ripon Cathedral, followed by refreshments. The Cathedral would like to know numbers by 10 April, if you would like to attend, please sign the sheet at the back of the church. Brendan
Come Shwopping – Wetherby Methodist Church on Friday 5 May at 7.00pm – A clothes shwopping event to raise funds for our young people to travel to Nepal in support of the Tearfund Project. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Heather Shipman 587539
Family Time Parenting Children Course – Have you got children under 12 years old? Come and be encouraged and inspired! A six week course starts on Tuesday 9 May at 9.30am in the Church Room. Calling all Esther’s – Save the date! – Our next ‘get-together’ will be on Friday 12 May from 7.30pm, where we will be having a ceramic café party in the Centre. Expect creative fun, great conversations, drinks and nibbles. Great opportunity to invite friends too. More details to follow. Stroma
Coffee Morning – Saturday 27 May at 10am at 9 Lazenby Drive, Wetherby. We are having a coffee morning to raise money for the young people to travel to Nepal to support the Tearfund Nepal project. Tea/coffee, cake stall, raffle, water and wine.
Do you like gardening? – To raise money for the Nepal Tearfund Project, we joint support with the Methodist Church, could you open your garden for an ‘Open Gardens’ event on Sunday 9 July, organised by the Methodist Church. If you would like your garden to be included, please could you ring Mary Bentham on 587694 or Sheila Hollaway on 585505. Gardens do not have to be large or of NGS standard, but should show some TLC! Confirmation 2017 – The Bishop of Richmond is coming to lead our Confirmation Service at 10.00am on Sunday 18 June. Confirmation is an excellent opportunity to explore the meaning of the Christian faith. We will be beginning preparation groups for adults and for young people (Y6 or above) shortly.
