There’s a Welcome Here – here at St James’ Church there is a welcome, not just on Sundays, but also during the summer months on most week days, when the Church is open for a few hours. When open, a “Welcomer” will be on duty to assist visitors. We will be open from April through to early November.  

  • Time for Tots - 1.30pm on the 2nd Thursday in the month during term-time in the Church Centre. 
    Time for Tots is a lively time of craft, songs, bible stories and refreshments for pre-school children and carers. Just turn up you will be made very welcome.
  • Children’s Sunday Club at - 9.30 Parish Communion
    At Sunday Club children leave church during the first hymn to make their way to the Church Centre where they engage in their own fun learning. The children come back into church for communion.
  • Children’ Activities during Worship @ 11am
    The children leave church during the first hymn to make their way to the Crypt or in fine weather the outdoors where they take part in imaginative activities. For younger children the back of the church is used for children’s learning/play during the service and they are free to flow between the back of the church and their parents during the service. 
  • Youth Group

Quiz – The June quiz is entitled ‘Anagrams’ and is available at the back of Church and costs £1.00. All proceeds go to support the mission of the Church.

The Knitted Bible – Susie Pilling is organising an exhibition of the Knitted Bible to be on display in St Helen’s Church, Bilton in Ainsty, on 19th, 20th and 26th and 27th August from 11am to 4pm. Admission is free, but donations for the church fund gratefully received. Susie Pilling 01423 358340

Love LunchMonday’s fortnightly Love Lunch pop in café (waitress service) brings people together to share food and enjoy companionship. Do drop in to the Church Centre Coffee Lounge any time between 12 noon and 2pm, last orders 1.30pm. You will receive a warm welcome and be looked after by our team of friendly volunteers. Closed for the Bank Holiday, the next lunches are on Monday 11th September and 25th September.

Step-up 2017/18 – is a year-long process of learning about the Christian faith and practical discipleship. Step-up gives people an opportunity to learn, explore and ask questions about the Christian faith and the space to discern God’s call and purpose for their lives. An Evening with Eddie Gray – Footballing legend, Eddie Gray, of Leeds United and Scotland fame, will be coming to Wetherby on Friday 29 September at 7.30pm at Wetherby Sports Association. Eddie Gray was a ‘superstar’ of the 70’s. Tickets for a meal, talk and question time will be £15 each and on sale from the Parish Office from 4 September. Proceeds go to the Nepal Project.
