There’s a Welcome Here – here at St James’ Church there is a welcome, not just on Sundays, but also during the summer months on most week days, when the Church is open for a few hours. When open, a “Welcomer” will be on duty to assist visitors. We will be open from April through to early November.  

  • Time for Tots - 1.30pm on the 2nd Thursday in the month during term-time in the Church Centre. Time for Tots is a lively time of craft, songs, bible stories and refreshments for pre-school children and carers. Just turn up you will be made very welcome.
  • Children’s Sunday Club at - 9.30 Parish Communion.  At Sunday Club children leave church during the first hymn to make their way to the Church Centre where they engage in their own fun learning. The children come back into church for communion.
  • Children’ Activities during Worship @ 11am.The children leave church during the first hymn to make their way to the Crypt or in fine weather the outdoors where they take part in imaginative activities. For younger children the back of the church is used for children’s learning/play during the service and they are free to flow between the back of the church and their parents during the service.

Pennies (£1) Jar for Debora’s Sponsorship – As you will probably know, the round £1 coins are no longer legal tender from today, 15 October, but you can still change them at the bank. If, however, you find a £1 coin in a coat pocket or down the back of the settee, and do not want to take it to the bank, please add to the ‘pennies jar’. Love LunchMonday’s fortnightly Love Lunch pop in café (waitress service) brings people together to share food and enjoy companionship. Do drop in to the Church Centre Coffee Lounge any time between 12 noon and 2pm, last orders 1.30pm. You will receive a warm welcome and be looked after by our team of friendly volunteers. Closed for the Bank Holiday, the next lunch will be on Monday 23rd October & 6th November.

Clothes and Aid Appeal for Syria & Lebanon - It’s that time of the year again when we respond to the appeal for good quality clothes (Ladies, Gents, and Children’s) and blankets. Clean, good quality clothes only please. Items can be brought to the Church Room (Scout Hall) on Friday 20th October 1.00pm – 6.00pm & Saturday 21st 10.00am -5.00pm. Lunch at the Golf Club – There will be a luncheon on Thursday November 2nd, at 12 for 12.30, with a retired Detective Inspector from the West Yorkshire Police, Ben Richardson. Tickets, for a two course lunch and coffee and mints, cost £25 per head. Tickets are now on sale from Audrey Spivey and the Parish Office. 

The Children’s Society – are holding a ‘Coffee Morning’ in the Town Hall on Saturday 11 November from 9.00am. Please come along and join us, there will be bacon butties, teas, coffee, cakes, books and a tombola. Thank you. Jill Rose 586640

House Groups - House groups are a good way of increasing your knowledge of the Christian faith and strengthening your friendships with other members of the church community. There are both day time and evening groups which meet at different locations throughout the parish, most on a fortnightly basis. Holy Land Pilgrimage 2018 - Monday 26 November to Monday 3 December. - A pilgrimage to the Holy Land offers the opportunity to ‘walk in the steps of Jesus’, visiting some of the various places and sites associated with His life and ministry. It also provides time for worship and hopefully encouragement to consider one’s own faith. Of course you may well have made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land already, this will be our sixth, but there are always new discoveries being made.
