There’s a Welcome Here – here at St James’ Church there is a welcome, not just on Sundays, but also during the summer months on most week days, when the Church is open for a few hours. When open, a “Welcomer” will be on duty to assist visitors. We will be open from April through to early November.  

Quiz – The June quiz is entitled ‘What the Dickens’ and is available at the back of Church and costs £1.00. All proceeds go to support the mission of the Church.

Stroma’s Ordination as Priest on Saturday 24 June at 3pm at Ripon Cathedral everyone is invited and if you are able to offer a lift or would like a lift, please put your name down on the appropriate sheet at the back of church. And afterwards an Ordination Barbeque will be held on the Tetley Land at 7pm, again all welcome. Brendan

Wetherby Choral Society Concert - Saturday 1 July at 7.30pm in St James’ Church. Tickets are £15 each and can be purchased from the Parish Office, or 07860 454894 or any WCS member.

Love Lunch – Monday’s fortnightly Love Lunch pop in café (waitress service) brings people together to share food and enjoy companionship. Drop into the Church Centre Coffee Lounge any time between 12 noon and 2pm, last orders 1.30pm. You will receive a warm welcome and be looked after by our team of friendly volunteers. The next lunch will be Monday 3rd July.

Book Club - The next meeting is on Tuesday 4th July at 7:30pm in the Curates Office and the book is ‘Dissolution" by CJ Sansom. All are welcome. Contact David and Sandra York (579596)

The Children’s Society Quiz night on Saturday 8 July starting at 7.30pm in the Church Centre. Tickets are £6.00 each and include a light supper. Everyone is welcome and you don’t have to be in a team. Please telephone Jill Rose on 01937 586640 to book your place.

St James’ Quiet Day at Parceval Hall on Tuesday 18 July 10am to 4pm – Parceval Hall is a wonderful retreat centre at Appletreewick near Bolton Abbey. It is the most beautiful place to retreat to. The building, food, gardens and setting are wonderful. Come and be restored. The day will be led by the Rev’d Yvonne Callaghan, an inspirational person. There are limited places! The cost, which includes morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, is £25 pp, bursaries available. Further details are at the back of Church. TearFund Nepal

Vicarage Garden PartySaturday 1 July from 2pm to 5pm. This is in aid of the Young People’s visit to TearFund Nepal. All are warmly invited to The Vicarage, 3 Lazenby Drive, Wetherby LS22 6WL. There will be teas, cakes and other goodies. No tickets needed, just a bowl for donations.

Croquet Afternoon Sunday 2 July from 2-4pm. This event is in aid of the Young People’s visit to Nepal and will be held in a field off Trip Lane, Linton LS22 4HX (turn right at the windmill, towards Wood Hall, and after leaving the houses look out for a big tree on the right. Turn left into the field soon after). Please wear sensible shoes! All very welcome.
