Suggestions for Prayer - Give thanks that, as Christians, our lives and witness will always seek to reflect our love and concern for our neighbour. That the Holy Spirit will enable us not only to believe in the love of Jesus, but it may be seen in our concern for those who are less fortunate than ourselves, both in this country and worldwide.

Calling all knitters and Crocheters – Your church needs you! We will do another yarn bombing mission of Wetherby Town Centre, as part of Thy Kingdom Come, so we need your skills. Ross Richardson is kindly providing patterns. Last year, people were blessed by the event, with your help we can do it again. Needles at the ready! Stroma
Christian Aid Week 12 to 18 May - Door-To-Door Collectors - We desperately need more volunteers so that we can reach more homes in Wetherby. If you could offer a couple of hours to help to deliver and collect envelopes from a specific street, please add your name to the list at the back of church or contact to Val Lumsden on 584760 or 07984 074710.

Spring Luncheon on Thursday 16 May at The Bridge Hotel, Walshford from 12 noon for 12.30pm. ‘A Life Behind Bars, Tales from the Governor’. Norma Harrington will entertain us with stories from her life and work. There will be a two-course meal, to include coffee and mints. A vegetarian option is available by prior arrangement. Tickets/Menus are available from the Parish Office (583074) and Jean Heaton and Val Lumsden in Church and cost £22.50 per person. All proceeds will be used to further our mission to place St James’ Church at the heart of the community. Eileen
Quiz on Saturday 18 May at 7pm in St James’ Church – Thank you to everyone who has offered to make sandwiches/cakes, this is greatly appreciated. Hymns and Pimms – Sunday 2 June at 6.30pm at St James’ – We will begin the evening by singing some of your favourite hymns led by Michael and the choir with contributions from the Gospel Choir, followed by Pimms and nibbles, hopefully outside! We need suggestions from you for your favourite hymns and why you like them, there are request forms at the back of church. Thank you for your help and come along and sing! Marilyn and Michael
St James’ Church & Community Fete on Saturday 15 June from 10.30am to 2pm. If you are a member of a group and wish to have a stall, it can be run for your own funds, for charity or to help St James’ Church funds. Stalls not run for church funds will be charged at £15 per trestle table. The Diocese of Leeds is recruiting a Financial Services Accountant to support the Chief Finance Officer based in Leeds. The closing date is 20 May. Further details are displayed on the Church noticeboard in the porch and the post is advertised on the Diocesan website.

Sponsored Swim for St Gemma's Hospice - Susie and Richard Hughes are undertaking a sponsored swim for St Gemma's Hospice. They are attempting to swim 22 miles over 8 weeks, the same as swimming from Dover to Calais. If you wish to sponsor them, there is a sponsor form at the back of church. Thank you.
