Suggestions for Prayer
Pray for all who, at the different services, will worship on this Mothering Sunday and we recognise God’s gift of home and family life. The Church’s role of caring for all and the wonderful example of Mary’s role in nurturing her Son Jesus. For mothers and grandmothers as, in so many ways, they demonstrate their love and care for their families.

Disaster Emergency Committee Appeal
You will have seen in the news reports about the devastating power of Cyclone Idai that swept through Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.  More than 700 people have lost their lives, but this number is expected to grow.  An estimated 2.6 million people have been affected many losing their homes and crops and infrastructure has been ripped apart.  In response to the Disaster Emergency Committee's (DEC) Cyclone Idai Appeal for aid, we are having retiring collections at all our services this week.  Please give generously. Riding Lights Theatre Company present their acclaimed Passion Play ‘The Narrow Road’ - Co-hosted by St James’ Church and Wetherby Methodist Church on Friday 12 April at 7.30pm at St James Church.  Cost:  Adults £8.00 Under 18’s free.  Tickets are available from the Parish Office 583074, Val Lumsden 07984 074710 or 01937 584760 and Jean Heaton 07866 366314.
 
Wetherby Choral Society Concert – St John Passion, J S Bach - on Saturday 13 April at 7.30pm at St James’ Church. Tickets are £16.00 and can be purchased from Nicolla Florists, Ticket Manager 07860 454894, email tickets@wetherbychoral.org.uk or on the door.
 
Community Easter Celebration on Wednesday 17 April at 1.45pm. This is a short service for all ages and abilities. Please join us after the service for refreshments. Everyone is welcome. For more information, please speak to Val Lumsden 01937 584760.
 
Easter Day Service and Breakfast – Sunday 21 April at 6.00am – Once again we are having our Easter Vigil Service, followed by breakfast. If you would like to come and join us, you will be very welcome. Please sign the sheet at the back of Church, so we have an idea of how many people we are catering for.
It has been suggested this year we have bacon butties, as well as our usual non-cooked breakfast, however, we need a volunteer(s) to do so, as I will be leading the service in church. If you would like to help with this, please let me know. We also need people to read the lessons and to help set up the room in the Church Centre on Saturday 20 April at 4.00pm.
