Suggestions for Prayer
Pray that we become much more aware of climate change and its effects upon our lives and the planet. That scientists will have the understanding and skill to encourage us in our treatment and stewardship of our planet and that promises, made by rich countries to the vulnerable countries, may be kept.

Calling all knitters and Crocheters – Your church needs you! We will do another yarn bombing mission of Wetherby Town Centre, as part of Thy Kingdom Come, so we need your skills. Christian Aid Week 12 to 18 May - Door-To-Door Collectors - We desperately need more volunteers so that we can reach more homes in Wetherby. Spring Luncheon on Thursday 16 May at The Bridge Hotel, Walshford from 12 noon for 12.30pm. ‘A Life Behind Bars, Tales from the Governor’. Norma Harrington will entertain us with stories from her life and work. There will be a two-course meal, to include coffee and mints. A vegetarian option is available by prior arrangement. Tickets/Menus are available from the Parish Office (583074) and Jean Heaton and Val Lumsden in Church and cost £22.50 per person. All proceeds will be used to further our mission to place St James’ Church at the heart of the community. Eileen
Quiz in aid of St James’ Church Funds on Saturday 18 May. We need to put together two teams of ten people. We also need volunteers to help make sandwiches and cakes and a small team to serve the refreshments at ‘half time’. Sri Lanka – Some will remember the visit to St James’ by Fr. Sagara Perera, from Sri Lanka. Sagara has informed us that he and his congregations were not directly affected by the terrorist outrages on Easter Day. He asked us to pray for his country at this dangerous and frightening time. Brendan

Hymns & Pimms Service at St James' - Sunday 2 June at 6.30pm - An evening singing some of your favourite hymns, led by Michael and the choir, with contributions from the Gospel Choir. This will be followed by Pimms and nibbles, hopefully outside! We will need some suggestions for your favourite hymns and why you like them. Request forms are at the back of Church. St James’ Church & Community Fete on Saturday 15 June from 10.30am to 2pm. If you are a member of a group and wish to have a stall, it can be run for your own funds, for charity or to help St James’ Church funds. Stalls not run for church funds will be charged at £15 per trestle table.
