Suggestions for Prayer

The 10 Octoberis observed as World Mental Health day worldwide providing an opportunity to be more aware of the importance of mental health and to seek to stop the stigma associated with it. Pray for the charity Mind, as it seeks to encourage greater understanding of those with mental health issues.

Deighton Road, North Grove Road, North Grove Avenue, North Grove Crescent, North Grove Drive, North Grove Way, North Grove Approach, North Grove Mount, North Grove Court, Stone Dean Park, Appleby Way.


This week Churches in Wetherby pray for: Age UK, the various caring agencies and for the many young people who support disabled relatives.          


St James’ School will be holding their annual Harvest Service in Church on Thursday 11 October at 2.15pm. All are welcome to attend and share in the Harvest Celebrations. Sarah Sharp

Welcome to Wetherbyin conjunction with the Wetherby Festival. On Saturday 13 Octoberthe Town is planning to open its buildings to the public and we are planning to open the church between 10am and 3pm and need volunteers. Stroma on Placement– For the next six weeks Stroma, as part of her curacy training, will be on placement at Holy Trinity, Ripon, and St Michael’s Hospice, Harrogate, exploring different areas of ministry. Needless to say, we will miss Stroma and her ministry very much. Please pray that Stroma has a fruitful and rewarding time. Brendan.


Shared Harvest Faith Lunch on Sunday 14 October at 12.30pmin the Church Centre. If you would like to come and enjoy a shared Faith Lunch, please put your name on the list at the back of church. Community Harvest Thanksgiving Service– A short service for all ages and abilities will be held on Monday 15 October at 1.45pm at St James’ Church. Please join us after the service for refreshments, everyone is welcome. For more information, please speak to Val Lumsden 01937 584760


Prisons Week Service on Thursday 18 October at HMYOI Wetherbyto arrive by 6.00pm for 6.30pm start. The guest speaker is David Lewis, who will talk about how his life has been transformed by God. CMS Supper and Talks on Friday 26 October at 7.00pm in the ChurchCentre. The speakers, who work for CMS, are Anna and Chris Hembury who work in Hull and Jessica and Andy Lynch who are preparing to work in Ecuador. Please do support this evening, which will provide a good meal and enable us to share in some of the work both in this country and overseas. Tickets cost £10.00 from Derek Taylor. Thank you. Derek


Church Family Weekend– Friday evening to Sunday afternoon – 22 to 24 March 2019 at Scargill House, Kettlewell. The costs, to include accommodation and food, are £110 for adults, children over 5 years £25.00, children under 5 are free.
