Suggestions for Prayer

Aswe give grateful thanks for all those who, through their courage and commitment in wars, gave of their lives. We pray too for the injured and disabled whose lives were sorely affected. We pray for peace throughout the world, the leaders and all who seek improvement in international relationships and forgiveness that they may be given wisdom and courage to do what is right.   

Pray for People living in the Hallfield Areaof Wetherby: Hallfield Lane, Freemans Way, Montague Road, Gunter Road, Ceres Road, Sykes Road, the Chase, St James’ School, Wetherby High School, The Salvation Army, Church on the Corner, Mason House, Hallfield Court

This week Churches in Wetherby pray for:  the work of the Royal British Legion. 


Today the Scouts will be offering a refreshments service to the Community in the Church Centre. Bacon/sausage rolls, soup, tea, coffee and cakes will be served between 10am and 2pm. Proceeds will help support Josh, Alex and Lucy (3 Wetherby Explorer Scouts) with raising funds to attend the 24thWorld Scout Jamboree in America. Refreshments for the 9.30am congregation will be served in the Coffee Lounge as normal.  We look forward to welcoming you all. Steve Taylor

Wetherby Choral Society Concert (The Armed Man) on Saturday 17November at 7.30pm at St James’ Church. Tickets cost £16 and are available from Nicolla Florist or at the door on the night.


Christmas Fair on Saturday 24 November from 9.30am to 12 noon in the Church Centre.

Charity Carol Service on Monday 10 December at 7.30pm at St James’ Church – This year’s chosen charity is St Gemma’s Hospice. Tickets are £5.00 and are available from Jean Heaton, Sheila Guest or the Parish Office. Festive fare will be served after the Service and any donations towards this, ie, mince pies, wine, etc, are always gratefully received (list at the back of Church). Church Family Weekend – 22 to 24 March 2019 at Scargill House, Kettlewell.  The costs, which include accommodation and food, are £110 for adults, children over 5 years £25.00, children under 5 are free.  FINAL DATE FOR BOOKING,25 November 2018. Val Lumsden 


Remembrance Tree– There will once again be a Remembrance Tree in the Church grounds, which will be illuminated on Advent Sunday, 2 December, and remain lit until Epiphany, 6 January. Dedicating a light on the tree will provide an opportunity to remember someone special at this time. Your name, and the names of those remembered, will also be listed in the Memorial Book in Church. If you would like to dedicate a light, please pick up a form from the back of church or from the Parish Office. Val Lumsden


Will you be an Angel?This year St James’ host the Churches TogetherChristmas Day Lunch.If you are willing to offer help either beforehand and/or on the day, or simply want to know more, please come along to the volunteer drop-in anytime between 10am & 12 noon in the Curate’s Office on Saturday 17 November.
