Suggestions for Prayers

Pray for Christians who are unsure how best to share their faith openly, whether at work, out shopping or with friends and family; and that the love and concern for the less fortunate will be reflected in our lives. Help us to be resistant to today’s trend towards increased secularism and that we will have the courage to protect our right to be able to share the Gospel freely.

Annual Parish Meetings – The Annual Meeting of Parishioners, for the election of Churchwardens, and the Annual Parochial Church Meeting will both be held on Thursday 19 April in the Town Hall at 7.30pm, with drinks and nibbles served from 7pm. The APCM receives a variety of written and verbal reports that together provide an overview of church activities for the last 12 months, as well as a look forward. The 2017/18 Annual Report, the 2017 parish accounts and agendas will be available, in church, on Sunday 15 April and at the meeting.

The APCM elects annually five lay representatives to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) for a period of three years. This year, there are also two vacancies for a two year term. Nomination forms for Churchwardens, Deputy Churchwardens and PCC membership are available in the church porch on 8 and 15 April. Nominations can also be made at the meeting, except for Churchwardens. Please prayerfully consider whether you could stand for any of these roles, or who you would nominate. PCC nominees are asked to write a short description of themselves. Baptisms – I have recently taken on the role of coordinating Baptism Preparation in the Church. We have started to hold Baptism Teas to give the families a warm welcome to the church, provide information about the service itself and all the things we do at St James’. These run 3 times a year at 4pm on a Sunday in the Church Centre. I am looking for anyone who would like to help with the teas in the role of welcoming or with refreshments. Also, if you would be interested in assisting at the Baptism Services, please get in touch and we can discuss further! Many thanks. Jo Davies 07891 824126 joannamaedavies@hotmail.co.uk
