Suggestions for Prayer

Today is International Day of Peace – the 70thAnniversary of the adoption of ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’. We pray for the millions of refugees who have been forced, through conflict, to flee from their homes and who long to return to where their human rights can be respected. Pray too for children who have been taken from their homes and forced to join armed forces. (warchild.org.uk)

Pray for People in the Sandringham Road area of Wetherby: Sandringham Road, Barleyfields Lane, Northgates, Grosvenor Terrace, York Place, Northgate House.

This week Churches in Wetherby pray for: St Oswald’s Church, Collingham

Garden Party Thank you – A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Garden Party last Saturday. It rained a lot, but we had a monster tombola, and so many delicious cakes that would make ‘Bake Off’ envious! Thank you to everyone who came along, made cakes, gave generous tombola prizes and plants, put up tents, served teas and washed-up. Over £1,050 was made for Tear Fund in Nepal. Thank you. Brendan

Thank you– We would like to thank everyone for the terrific send off we were given on Sunday 2 September, for the wonderfully generous gift and all the kind comments. It was a truly memorable day and it will stay with us.

Janet and Daggi

Hymns – Have you ever thought about the hymns that we sing at the 9.30 service? Over the summer, I have! Between September 2017 to August 2018 we sang 215 hymns at the 9.30 services. Of those, we sang 117 of them just once, 29 twice, 12 three times and, our most popular hymn, Love Divine, four times. 28% of all of hymns did not come from the hymn book. Finally, we have sung 114 different hymns from the hymn book, which means that we only used 21% of the hymn book! Michael Payne
