Suggestions for Prayer

Trinity 18: Let us continue to pray for the many people in Syria who have lost their homes and possessions and especially the children who have missed years of their education. Many will be fearful of the coming Winter and so please pray that on the Clothes Collection on Saturday that there will be a very generous response.

Pray for people in the Spofforth Hill Estate area of Wetherby:  Chatsworth Drive, Carlton Approach, Marston Way. Ullswater Drive, Ullswater Rise,   and Langdale Close.

This week churches  in Wetherby are praying for: Wetherby, Collingham and East Keswick Methodist churches.

Autumn Luncheon at The Bridge- Thank you to everyone who supported this special event. We had a lovely meal, lots of chat and an excellent speaker.  £600 was raised for church funds.  A great result!  Audrey Spivey and Eileen Spencer-Witcomb

Syria & Iraq Winter Clothing Appeal on Saturday 6 October from 10.00am to 4.00pm at St James’ Church Room. This will be the fourth year this appeal has been made and there has always been a generous response which has been much appreciated. The needs are as urgent as ever and our contributions will be added to those responding throughout the country. Leaflets giving more details are available in Church. Thank you. Welcome to Wetherbyin conjunction with the Wetherby Festival. On Saturday 13 Octoberthe Town is planning to open its buildings to the public (read more in the Church Magazine) and we are planning to open the church between 10am and 3pm and need volunteers. Youth Work Sunday/Youth Group- Today we are celebrating Youth Work Sunday and ask you to pray for our Youth Leaders and young people who are a part of our youth work here at St James. Our Youth Group for Y7-9 meets in the Church Centre on a Sunday Evening 6.00-7.15pm. As well as playing games and enjoying refreshments together we also have the opportunity to discuss and question areas of faith and what it means to have a living faith in Jesus. Shared Harvest Faith Lunch on Sunday 14 October at 12.30pmin the Church Centre. If you would like to come and enjoy a shared Faith Lunch, please put your name on the list at the back of church. Church Family Weekend– Friday evening to Sunday afternoon – 22 to 24 March 2019 at Scargill House, Kettlewell. The costs, to include accommodation and food, are £110 for adults, children over 5 years £25.00, children under 5 are free.
