Suggestions for Prayers

Today is observed internationally as Father’s Day, reminding us of the important role both of fathers and grandfathers within the family. Pray that the gifts of love, grace and justice will be reflected by them in their home and family life. Help those, with patience and understanding, who are involved in marriage breakdowns and when, in some cases, they see their children only occasionally.

Pray for People in Linton: Westgarth, Tibgarth, Stammergate Lane, Middle Lane, Orchard Drive, College Farm Lane, Northcote Fold, Eden Bank.

This week Churches in Wetherby pray for:  All the schools serving our community, Pupils and Staff

A Big Thank youto everyone who helped, attended, donated to or supported the Church d& Community Fete on Saturday 9 June, they were magnificent. Thankfully the weather was with us this year and despite other events going on in the local vicinity, all stalls seemed to be really busy. Whilst the Fete was on, the Fun Art and Craft Competition was taking place inside the church. We were amazed at the fantastic talent members of our community have. We would like to thank everyone who took part in this wonderful event, for the time and hard work they put into their brilliant entries. In total, we raised just over £2,300 for church funds. Thank you. Jean Heaton & Sue Taylor

Ladies - A night to catch up and have some meaningful conversation –Thursday 28 June from 7.30pm at the Swan & Talbot. All welcome. Stroma 01937 520512

Ordinations – Please pray for God’s peace and blessing on all those being ordained deacons and priests at the end of June and for their families and their parishes. Stroma

St James’ Festival Celebration– On Sunday 15 Julywe will be celebrating our patron saint St James’ with a special service at 10.00am. Ruth Donegan-Cross will be our guest preacher. The service will be followed by a barbeque lunch at 12 noon on the Tetley Land, weather permitting. So we have exact numbers for catering, if you would like to come to the barbeque, please add your name to the list at the back of church. We are also looking for volunteers to help cook the barbeque. If you can help, please contact Jean Heaton 07866 366314 or Stroma. Thank you.

Welcoming– We try to keep St James’ open to the public each weekday morning during the summer months. Last year, we welcomed over 700 visitors during our ‘open season’, many who were parishioners and other visitors who had made a point of calling at the Church in the hope it would be open. All this is possible due to a number of volunteer ‘Welcomers’ who enable the Church to be accessible to anyone who wished or needed to visit. We would love to continue this service and to possibly extend it. With your help this would be possible. We have a rota of volunteers who give around 2 hours of their time a month. If you would like to consider helping in this valuable service to the Church and the community, please contact me. Thank you. Jill Rose 01937 586640 or email jilly.rose@gmail.com

Christian Aid Collection– The total raised by the Wetherby Churches during Christian Aid week is the fantastic amount of £5,142.25, to date. Many thanks to everyone. Val Lumsden

Quiz – The quiz for June is entitled ‘Famous: Cars, Women, Firsts & People in UK TV Adverts’. The quiz costs £1.00 and all proceeds go to support the mission of the Church. Thank you. Susan Armstrong 520763.
