It is with deep sorrow that we have to announce the death of Graham Siswick. He made a huge contribution as a Reader and as a friend to everyone. He will be very much missed. Please pray for his wife, Jennifer, and his daughter, Deborah. We will notify the date of Graham’s funeral when we have that information. Stroma

Suggestions for Prayers 

As we hear more about the increased attention given to ‘Artificial Intelligence’ we should pray that the scientists and engineers, and all involved in its development, should be aware of, and guided to make, the necessary ethical decisions that will benefit the whole of humankind.

The Children’s Society – The Children’s Society are holding their annual Quiz Nighton Saturday 14 July at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 each, which includes a light supper. This is always a fun night, so please come along and support us. We can include you in a team or gather some friends to make up a team. Tickets from Jill Rose 01937 586640

 

St James’ Festival Celebration– On Sunday 15 Julywe will be celebrating our patron saint, St James’, with a special service at 10.00am. Ruth Donegan-Cross will be our guest preacher. The service will be followed by a barbeque lunch at 12 noon on the Tetley Land, weather permitting. So we have exact numbers for catering, please add your name to the list at the back of church. The Friendsare having a summer trip to Studley Royal on Sunday 1 Julyfor a picnic and short performance in St Mary’s Church. Leaving straight after the 9.30am service, using our own transport, it is advised to park in the car park nearest the visitors’ centre for Fountains Abbey and walk to St Mary’s by the marked paths.
