Caretakers – Janet Aristotelous will be retiring from her role of Caretaker at the end of August. We would very much like to thank Janet and her husband Daggi, who was our Groundsman, but sadly had to retire due to ill health, for the hard work and effort in looking after the Church, Church Centre buildings and grounds to a very high standard over the last 4 years. If you wish to make a donation towards a leaving gift you can do that through the Parish Office or via one of the Churchwardens.

 

We are pleased to say that Cliff Tetlow has now been appointed as full-time Caretaker/Groundsman and commences his increased duties from 1 September 2018.

Suggestions for Prayers 

August is ‘National Road Victim Month’ when we can pray for Police, Fire Service and Paramedics, as they may face danger in responding to accidents and other crises. Lord, give them courage and wisdom when they are called to face difficult situations. Pray too for Mountain Rescue Teams throughout the UK and the many trained volunteers who assist in this work.

Pray for People in the Parsons Green area of Wetherby:   Parsons Green, Durrant Close, Highcliffe Court, Bridgefoot, Wetherby Silver Band and those who use the Bandstand, Weir Preservation Trust and Wilderness Car Park, Wetherby in Bloom. 

This week Churches in Wetherby pray for: the Police and Rescue Services as they respond to crises.

 

Morning Prayerat St James’ Church– There will be no Morning Prayer during the summer holidays. The Morning Prayer will recommence on Monday 3 September. Stroma

August Coffee Mornings at 9.30am in the Church Centre- Thursdays 9, 16, 23, 30 August in aid of Tearfund Nepal

 

Vicarage Late Summer Garden Party, in aid of Tearfund Nepal – All are warmly invited to The Vicarage(3 Lazenby Drive LS22 6WL) on Saturday 8September from 2.00pm to 4.30pm. There will be tea, cakes and other goodies for everyone. Brendan

Step-up at St James’ begins again in September– Step-up is a year-long process of learning about the Christian faith and practical discipleship. Step-up gives people an opportunity to learn, explore and to ask questions and the space to discern God’s call and purpose for their lives. Leaflets are available at the back of Church. Autumn Luncheon – Thursday 20 September at The Bridge Hotel, Walshford12 noon for 12.30pm. Tickets cost £25 pp, to include a 2-course meal. The guest speaker will be Dennis Richards, retired Headteacher of St Aidan’s CE High School, who will entertain us with stories from his teaching career. Do join us at this special event.
