Suggestions for Prayers

Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, is also Valentine’s Day, so let us demonstrate and deepen our love for Jesus and use the six weeks by taking the opportunity to draw closer to Jesus and journey with Him, to the cross and beyond, on a pilgrimage of Faith. Pray that God will bless the Lenten programme, providing various opportunities for worship and learning from Sunday and weekday services, House Groups to the Lent Meditations and Soup Lunches.

Pray for People in the North Barleyfields area of Wetherby:  Barleyfields, Maple Drive, Poplar Avenue, Oakwood Road, Coxwold Hill, Coxwold View.

This Week Churches in Wetherby pray for:  St Joseph’s Church

Whole Life Worship – A Course for Lent – There will, as usual, be a number of groups meeting in different venues through Lent. This year, we will be using a course produced by the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, how worship transforms every area of our lives. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, 14 February, so groups will begin the week after that. There will be a list at the back of church for you to sign. Do consider joining one, it is such a good way to learn, amongst friends old and new! David Bewell

The Children’s Society Coffee Morning in the Town Hall on Thursday 22 February from 9.00am. There will be bacon butties, teas, coffee, cakes, books and a tombola. If anyone is having a spring clean, we are always grateful for bric a brac and books, and can collect. Please come along and join us! Thank you. Jill Rose

Lent Soup Lunches –We will be serving soup lunches in the Church Centre following the Lent Meditations each Thursday on 22 February, 1, 8, 15 and 22 March. If you would like to help, either making soup or serving, please add your name to the list at the back of Church. Thank you. Shirley Fawcett

Tools with a Mission (TWAM) – Churches Together are organising a collection of tools on Saturday 24 February from 10am to 4pm in the Church Room for TWAM. The donated tools will be sorted into trade kits and sent to countries in the Developing World for ‘livelihood creation’. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Derek Taylor

Thank you so much to everyone who supported and encouraged us throughout Will’s illness. Will touched the lives of so many people that we have been overwhelmed by your cards, messages, flowers and acts of kindness shown to us as a family. We are also very grateful to all the help we have received in arranging Will’s funeral. With love Shirley and all the family.

A Big Thank You to everyone who bought a cake after the 9.30am and 11am services on 4 February in aid of Cancer Research UK. We raised a fantastic total of just over £125. Thank you too to everyone who helped and baked for us. Ollie Wenn and Dominic Teahan
