Suggestions for Prayers

As the cost of Social Care rises and the demand continues to increase, pray that solutions to the financial pressures facing the NHS and local authorities may be found, so that the necessary care to the vulnerable continues to be available. Pray for the professionals and volunteers, who care for the elderly in need and the many, including children, who look after their parents.

Joint Evening Worship this evening at 6.30pm – We will be joined by Clare Nelson, the regional representative of Compassion. Clare will be sharing with us the sad news of the closure of Compassion’s longstanding work in India and opportunities to lift children and families out of poverty in other parts of the world. Stroma’s Ordination as Priest on Saturday 24 June at 3pm at Ripon Cathedral everyone is invited and if you are able to offer a lift or would like a lift, please put your name down on the appropriate sheet at the back of church. And afterwards an Ordination Barbeque will be held on the Tetley Land at 7pm, again all welcome. Brendan

 

Vicarage Garden Party – Saturday 1 July from 2pm to 5pm. This is in aid of the Young People’s visit to TearFund Nepal. All are warmly invited to The Vicarage, 3 Lazenby Drive, Wetherby LS22 6WL. There will be teas, cakes and other goodies. No tickets needed, just a bowl for donations. Thank you. Brendan

 

St James’ Quiet Day at Parceval Hall on Tuesday 18 July 10am to 4pm – Parceval Hall is a wonderful retreat centre at Appletreewick near Bolton Abbey. It is the most beautiful place to retreat to. The building, food, gardens and setting are wonderful. Come and be restored. The day will be led by the Rev’d Yvonne Callaghan, an inspirational person. There are limited places! The cost, which includes morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, is £25 pp, bursaries available. Further details are at the back of Church.
