Pennies (£1) Jar for Debora’s Sponsorship – As you will probably know, the round £1 coins are no longer legal tender from today, 15 October, but you can still change them at the bank. St James’ Musicians at the Wetherby Festival – There a number of concerts during the forthcoming Wetherby Festival that feature St James’ Musicians. The highlights will be a concert by the choir on Friday 20 October at 7pm in Church featuring ‘Music for a church’s Year’ and a performance of the jazz cantata ‘Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo’. I will be taking part in two lunchtime concerts in Church, both at 1pm, (lunch from 12.30pm) on Monday 16 October (organ) and Tuesday 17 October (piano duet with Martin Binks). Michael Payne


Clothes and Aid Appeal for Syria & Lebanon -  Good quality items can be brought to the Church Room (Scout Hall) on Friday 20 October 1.00pm – 6.00pm & Saturday 21 10.00am -5.00pm. Service of Light – Sunday 29 October at 6.30pm – We will be joining together at St James’ Church to remember those who have died by the lighting of individual candles in their memory. No Trick, Just Treat – Join us on Tuesday 31 October, between 6pm and 8pm, for our alternative Halloween Party. Games, crafts and refreshments for all the family. Called to Prayer – God is calling his people to pray, to seek his will, his purpose and his timing for all that he wants to do in Wetherby. We are to be expectant for what God is going to do because he is doing a ‘new thing’ among us building his kingdom, and he is asking us to be open to his Spirit moving among us. Please come and join together in prayer on the first Monday of every month, the first one will be on Monday 6 November 7.30pm to 8.30pm at St James’ Church. All are very welcome. Nepal 2017 – Please pray for Christian McDermott, Val Lumsden, Grace and Jackie Taylor and Miriam Giblin and myself, as on Friday we set off, together with friends from the Methodist Church, to experience the work of TearFund in Nepal.
