Suggestions for Prayers

Pray for children throughout the world: for those who are privileged to have loving parents and enjoy secure homes and those who are homeless and exist in refugee camps. For God’s blessing upon schools, societies and all who give of their time, especially at Christmastide, to minister in so many different ways to children and young people with great needs.

Christmas Card – We are once again having the ‘Big Christmas Card’ in Church, giving everyone an opportunity to add their greetings to the whole ‘church family’ rather than giving individual cards to each other. There will be a jar next to the card, should you wish to make a donation. Thank you.

2017 Remembrance Tree – In the Church grounds. The tree will be illuminated from Advent Sunday until 6 January 2018. Dedicate a light and remember someone special at this time. Thank you. Val Lumsden


Family Carol Concert on Wednesday 20 December from 7.30pm to 8.30pm Town Hall Steps. This is a free community event organised by local businesses. There will be carol singing, complimentary mulled wine and mince pies. Everyone welcome


Candle Lighters Needed – We are having two Christingle Services on Christmas Eve this year, at 4pm and 6pm. If you can help with this, please put your name down on the list at the back of church. Many thanks. Jean Heaton


Christingles – We will be making the Christingles at 6.00pm on Saturday 23 December in the Church Centre. Everyone is welcome to join in to add to the excitement of Christmas. Thank you. Mary Hare 585158.


Christmas Day Lunch – Churches Together will be serving a traditional Christmas Lunch at Wetherby Methodist Church Hall on Christmas Day from 12 noon until 3.30pm. This costs £5.00 per person. Pantomine Thursday 28 December at 2pm. The Friends of Wetherby Church Music have a few tickets available to the congregation to see Beauty and the Beast in York. Fancy a Happy New You in 2018? Then join the Happiness Lab! Starting on Tuesday 9 January at The Swan and Talbot at 7.30pm. The Happiness Lab uncovers the eight secrets psychologist, medics and faith leaders believe make us happy. The lab will run for four weeks with lots of interaction and time for some experiments and a pint! If you would like to have fun and get your ‘happy on’, speak to Stroma McDermott or David York.
