Prisons Week Service at HMYOI Wetherby is taking place on Thursday 12 October at 6.30pm (6pm at the gate with identification). The guest speaker this year is Chaz Homewood from the Lighthouse in Rotherham. Chaz has a great story to tell. Clothes and Aid Appeal for Syria & Lebanon - It’s that time of the year again when we respond to the appeal for good quality clothes (Ladies, Gents, and Children’s) and blankets. Clean, good quality clothes only please. Items can be brought to the Church Room (Scout Hall) on Friday 20th October 1.00pm – 6.00pm & Saturday 21st 10.00am -5.00pm. Lunch at the Golf Club – There will be a luncheon on Thursday November 2nd, at 12 for 12.30, with a retired Detective Inspector from the West Yorkshire Police, Ben Richardson. Tickets, for a two course lunch and coffee and mints, cost £25 per head. Tickets are now on sale from Audrey Spivey and the Parish Office.

A New Reader – Lorna.  At 11.00am on Saturday 7 October, in Ripon Cathedral, Lorna Johnson will be licensed as ‘Reader’ for our parish. We look forward to Lorna’s ministry and pray for God’s blessing to equip her for the role. All are most welcome to the Service. Brendan

 

Harvest - Next week will be our Harvest Festival. We thank God for his lavish goodness. Harvest gifts of tinned and dried foods are much appreciated by St Georges’ Crypt, Caring for Life and All Hallows Community Cafe.

 

Harvest Supper & Fun Quiz on Saturday 7 October at 7pm – it will be a great night! Come and enjoy cottage pie and apple crumble, in the Church Centre. Tickets are £7.50 each or £20 for a family and are available from the Parish Office 583074, Jean Heaton or Audrey Spivey. BYO wine. Donations of raffle prizes would be appreciated, thank you.

 

Quiz – The October quiz, ‘All about the UK’, is available at the back of Church and costs £1.00. All proceeds go to support the mission of the Church. Thank you. Susan Armstrong 520763. David Bewell won the August quiz, well done!

 

Esther Ladies – Embrace Women’s Day on Saturday 14 October at St John’s, Sharow, Ripon from 10am to 4pm. Tickets cost £10, includes coffee, cake, but not lunch. If you interested in attending, there is a ‘sign up’ sheet at the back of church. Thank you. Stroma McDermott

 

The Children’s Society – Talk and Afternoon Tea. We are holding a talk by Martin & Jill Fish and afternoon tea on Thursday 5 October at Kirk Deighton Village Hall at 2.30pm. GSUS Live! (October 2 – 6) -  is a multi-media classroom housed in a lorry trailer. Its purpose is to provide an exciting and interactive setting for Key Stage 3 (Years 7-10) pupils to explore the themes of fear, rejection and forgiveness through the stories of three teenagers, and to learn what Jesus has to say about these things.
