Suggestions for Prayers

From Ascension Day to Pentecost, Christians worldwide will be taking part in “Thy Kingdom Come” – a global wave of prayer for the peace of the world and also that many people will come to know Jesus and have faith in His message. Pray that there will be widespread support from Christians in Wetherby to join in the wave of prayer between 10.00am and 7.00pm in St Joseph’s church on Friday 26 May.

People in the Linton Lane Area of Wetherby:  Linton Lane, Linton Hills Road, Avon Garth, The Ridge, Sicklinghall Road, Wetherby Golf Club.

This week Wetherby Churches are asked to pray for: The work of the NHS and all involved in its work.

 

Love Lunch – Monday’s fortnightly pop in café brings people together to share food and enjoy fellowship. Join us in the Coffee Lounge on Monday 22 May at 12 noon, where you will receive a warm welcome. Lorraine Moseley

Coffee Morning – Saturday 27 May at 10am at 9 Lazenby Drive, Wetherby. We are having a coffee morning to raise money for the young people to travel to Nepal to support the Tearfund Nepal project. General Election Hustings – Question Time. Churches Together has organised an evening with all the candidates for the Parliamentary Election on Wednesday 24 May at 7.30pm-9.00pm in St James’ Church. Come and hear the candidates speak for themselves, interrogate them and listen to their answers. This evening will be an excellent way to engage in the shaping of our shared national life. Plant Stall - We are planning a plant stall, but need donations to stock it! If you are splitting plants, have extra seedlings or any other surplus plants, please think of us! St James’ Fun Art and Craft Competition – Saturday 10 June – We are holding a ‘Fun Art and Craft Competition’ in the Church during the Fete. Twelve different categories, covering all age groups. It is free to enter and you can enter as many different categories as you like. So get your knitting needles, paint brushes, aprons, vases, cameras and Lego out and have a go! Thank you. Holy Land Pilgrimage – I now have twelve names for those wishing to join the pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2018, but we still require 16 people to make it viable. St James’ Quiet Day at Parceval Hall on Tuesday 18 July 10am to 4pm – Parceval Hall is a wonderful retreat centre at Appletreewick near Bolton Abbey. It is the most beautiful place to retreat to. The building, food, gardens and setting are wonderful. Come and be restored. The day will be led by the Rev’d Yvonne Callaghan, an inspirational person. There are limited places! The cost, which includes morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, is £25 pp, bursaries available. Further details are at the back of Church.
