Suggestions for Prayers

Pray for the Church’s role and mission within the community and its work at large:  Clergy, Readers, PCC and all who worship at St James’ and Church on the Corner,  “Dear Lord, throughout 2018 please keep me Christ-centred, prayerful and praise-filled.” Let me use the opportunities I shall have to share the love of Jesus with others.

Mothers’ Union Wave of Prayer will be held on Monday 8 January at 2pm in the Church Centre, when we pray for our link diocese in Lesotho (South Africa), Etche (Nigeria), Ogbomoso (Nigeria), Kibungo (Rwanda) and Hanuato’o (Soloman Islands).


Called to Prayer – God is calling his people to pray, to seek his will, his purpose and his timing for all that he wants to do in Wetherby. We are to be expectant for what God is going to do because he is doing a ‘new thing’ among us building his kingdom, and he is asking us to be open to his Spirit moving among us. Fancy a Happy New You in 2018? Then join the Happiness Lab! Starting on Tuesday 9 January at The Swan and Talbot at 7.30pm. The Happiness Lab uncovers the eight secrets psychologist, medics and faith leaders believe make us happy. The lab will run for four weeks with lots of interaction and time for some experiments and a pint! If you would like to have fun and get your ‘happy on’, speak to Stroma McDermott or David York.


St James’ Bereavement Support Coffee Morning on Saturday 20 January, 10 to 11.30am, in the Church Centre. A time to meet those others who have been bereaved, to talk and to listen.
