St James

AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

A Very Warm Welcome to Everyone

The fragility of hope

This week it was announced that the government is introducing new restrictions on social gatherings. The regulations for church worship remain unchanged. Clearly the government is concerned about the rise in the number of infections. We all should be concerned. We are committed to doing everything as safely as possible in church, the change in legislation underscores the need for this, and for us all to be careful.

It was good for St James' to be able to develop our Sunday worship offering last week. Thank you to everyone who worked incredibly hard to make this happen. Our worship together, both in person and online, radiated hope. The fragility inherent in our careful, socially distanced worship made this hope all the more poignant and real.

The full re-opening of schools has felt like a very significant hopeful moment. Please pray for children and young people, teachers and school staff beginning a new school year: for those who are joyful, and for the anxious, for the hopeful and those who are apprehensive.

Alpha online is coming to St James Wetherby

The Alpha Course is a great space to ask the big questions of life.  Why am I here?  Why is there suffering in the world?  What is the purpose of life?  How can I have faith?  No question is too simple or too hostile.  Starting on Wednesday 30th September St James' will be hosting an Alpha course.  Each session will run from 7.30 - 8.45pm.  No matter whether you are new to church, or have been part of church for many years, the Alpha course is a way to engage with the important issues of life and faith.  For a taster please watch the 2.43 minute video:  https://player.vimeo.com/video/181494383
