St James

AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

A Very Warm Welcome to Everyone

Harvest Festival

Giving thanks isn't an optional chore it is something necessary and good for us. Yes, life is tough at the moment, but there is a lot to thankful for, not least our food and those who work to produce it.

This year, as usual, we will be collecting tinned and dried food for St George's Crypt in Leeds. This is used to provide meals for people who are homeless. The work done by the Crypt enabling people who are homeless to get back on their feet is amazing.,https://www.stgeorgescrypt.org.uk

Please do support this if you can.  Bring produce to our services or call into church when it is open 10.00-11.00  Monday - Thursday.

If you can't be at one of the services do please take part on-line.

Sarah Sharp
Sadly lockdown meant that we were not able to say a proper goodbye to Sarah Sharp (Youth and Community Outreach Worker) and her family. I am delighted that Sarah will be joining us this Sunday for Harvest at 09.30 and 11.00. It will be lovely to see Sarah again, say a big thank you and how much we miss her.

Flu Vaccination Event

Cllr Norma Harrington has asked churches for volunteers to be marshals for a flu vaccination event (!) at Bramham Park. Details are below.

Norma writes….

Venue: Bramham Park   -   Date: 12th to 18th October   -   Practices:  Crossley Street, Collingham, Boston Spa and Bramham.

Session Times: (4 hours each – a full day in the cold and stood may be a bit too much!)  AM (08.00 – 1.00) and PM (12.30-5.00pm)

We are hoping to get as many marshals to line the route at Bramham (3.3) miles.  Each marshal will be given a marshalling pack containing everything you may need for the session (mask, gloves, map, walkie talkie, bottle of water, a sweet treat and hi-vis).  The route is one way and starts at the top of the site feeding through the estate/fields and into the farm yard/vaccination zone.  Marshals will not be required to have any patient identifiable job, their main job will be directing traffic, giving patient's information and checking they have an appointment.

We are looking for people who aren't shielding or at risk (as we don't wish to cause further harm).  If people could do more than one session that also would be great. There are limited facilities on site (1 port-a-loo at the main zone but not at the marshalling points). It may also be cold, those plotted in the fields and woods can take their car to the marshalling point and seek shelter if weather is terrible.

Sessions we are in particular need of volunteers are:

Monday AM (1 needed), Tuesday AM (2 needed), Tuesday PM (3 needed), Wednesday AM (4 needed), Wednesday PM (2 needed), Thursday AM (1 needed), Thursday PM (1 needed), Friday AM (5 needed), Saturday AM (5 needed), Sunday AM (5 needed)

If you require any further information or would like to discuss how you can help please do give the organiser a call:
