Suggestions for Prayer
Pray for all those baptised in St James’s Church in 2019 and also that parents will have taken seriously their children’s baptismal promises.  Pray for God’s blessing upon the various ministries for children and the youth at St James’ and for all involved in the leadership.
People in the Aire Road area of Wetherby:  Aire Road, Aire Mount, Foss Avenue, Leven Gardens, Washburn Court, Priest Hill Gardens, Hawthorne Avenue.
This week churches in Wetherby pray for:  Pupils and staff of the schools serving our community.
Food Bank – A very big thank you to everyone who has kindly donated food in 2019. It has been very much appreciated. The amount of supplies that came in over Christmas was amazing. However, many of you might have thought it had not been collected and you would be quite right in thinking that, unfortunately many of the ‘Food Bank’ volunteers were ill. Hopefully the 2020 distribution will begin in earnest. Please do continue to donate, as supplies in Wetherby are still required. With many thanks and best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and peaceful 2020. Margaret Williams tel 918548
Christingles – We would like to thank all of those who came along and helped with the making of the Christingles, it was very much appreciated. Bev Lyn, on behalf of the Children Society Committee.
Refreshments 2019 – A big thank you to everyone who gave donations for refreshments after the 8.00am, 9.30am and the monthly Mothers’ Union Communion during 2019. After expenses a total of £982.30 was raised. This will be used to purchase items used during services, including Communion wine and wafers, candles, etc. Thanks also to the volunteers who prepare and serve the refreshments each week. New helpers are always welcome, just speak to me for inclusion on the rota. Many thanks. Sheila Guest
Postage Stamps – Please save all used postage stamps. There is a collecting box on the window sill in the Church Centre for your stamps and proceeds go to Christian Aid. Thank you. Mary Hare
Hosts/Leaders for 2020 Lent Home Groups
We are currently starting to plan the Lent Home Groups for 2020 and we are now looking for people who would be willing to host, lead or host and lead a group in 2020. If you are able to help, either by hosting or leading a group, then please speak to either Marilyn Smith or David Bewell or add your name to the list at the back of Church. Thank you. David Bewell.
The Flowers in the porch this week, are in loving memory of Barry Wilkinson,  Mavis’s husband. Shirley Fawcett
Quiz – There were no winners for the December quiz. Why not have a go at the January Quiz, ‘All about the 90’s, for £1.00. All money raised goes towards Church funds. Thank you. Sue Taylor
