Suggestions for Prayer
The Universe:  As we give thanks for the universe and its many gifts, pray that more people will recognise the importance of being better stewards of God’s gifts and to protect rather than to destroy.Pray for people in the Templar Gardens area of Wetherby:  Templar Gardens, Knights Croft, Law Close, Priory Close, Eels Mire Garth, Ashfield, Deighton Close, St Benedict’s and Ashfield Nursing Homes, and Home Paddock House. This week Churches in Wetherby pray that the various Lenten home groups will be well supported.

Help required Thursday Coffee Mornings – For many years, St James’ has held a Coffee Morning on a Thursday. The money raised is split between St Gemma’s Hospice and St James’ Church and the morning is an important part of our outreach to the community. If we have enough helpers, the commitment is one Thursday morning four times a year. If you can help or want more information, please speak with me either at Church or on 01937 584816. Thank you. Shirley Fawcett

It’s that simple.  It can be inconvenient completing white Gift Aid envelopes on a Sunday morning - would it not be simpler to be able to use envelopes imprinted with an identifying number instead of writing your full name and address?  You can, using St James’ Yellow Envelopes.
Put your donation in the envelope, put the envelope on the offertory plate and the Gift Aid Recorder will identify your donation from the unique number and claim the tax. It’s that simple.
The value of Gift Aid donations at St James’ is falling, but cash donations are increasing.
If you pay UK income tax and do not wish to commit to a standing order or you often use the white envelopes, please speak to our friendly Gift Aid Recorder, Jill Rose (07761982630 or mail: jilly.rose@gmail.com) who can provide you with a batch of numbered yellow envelopes. Simple

Did you know that the Church of England is offering daily Lent reflections direct to your email? The reflections will be delivered, free of charge, to your email address for the 40 days of Lent. To learn more, go to the Church of England web site: www/churchofengland.org/livelent. To sign up, go to the link and scroll down to the section called ‘receive our seasonal reflections by email’, and fill in your details. Thank you. Brenda Plant
In God’s Hands – A Course for Lent – There will be a number of homegroups meeting across the Parish throughout Lent, so you can choose a time and location convenient to you. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, 26 February, so groups will begin the week after that. This year, we will be following a course based on the book ‘In God’s Hands’ by Desmond Tutu. Do consider joining a group, they are such a good way to learn, amongst friends old and new. To join a group, please sign the list at the back of Church. Thank you. David Bewell.
Special Services for Ash Wednesday, 26 February, at St James’ Church
Lent begins on Wednesday 26 February and there are two Ash Wednesday Holy Communion services at St James’, with the imposition of ashes. These are at 9.45am and also 7.30pm (this service shared with Wetherby Methodist Church). All are very welcome. Thank you. Brendan
The Children’s Society – The Children’s Society are holding a Coffee Morning on Thursday 27 February at Wetherby Town Hall. We will have all the usual favourites, books, bric-a-brac, tombola and, of course, refreshments, cakes and bacon butties. Please come along and support us. Any donations of books and bric-a-brac gladly received. Many thanks. Jill Rose 01937 586640
